Obakaye Yoruba Arts & Culture

Obakaye Yoruba Arts & Culture exists to preserve the wisdom of Yoruba heritage, empower the people who carry it forward, and create new possibilities for Yoruba arts, philosophy, language, and creativity to thrive in Nigeria and globally.

Mission Statement

Obakaye Yoruba Arts & Culture is a cultural and creative organization dedicated to preserving, advancing, and sharing Yoruba philosophy, language, arts, history, and cultural knowledge in Nigeria and around the world. We serve as a platform that connects Yoruba artists, philosophers, scholars, educators, young creatives, cultural institutions, and international communities to ensure that Yoruba cultural heritage remains a living, evolving, and globally relevant force.

We achieve this by teaching and promoting the Yoruba language and philosophy; supporting research, education, and scholarship; promoting the work of Yoruba artists and thinkers; nurturing emerging creative talent; and creating spaces for artistic experimentation and cultural exchange. Through exhibitions, performances, multimedia and theatre, workshops, seminars, conferences, training programs, campaigns, collaborations, and international partnerships, we create opportunities for people to learn, create, engage, and contribute to the development of Yoruba arts and culture.

Our work is collaborative, educational, creative, and community-driven. We mobilize partnerships, grants, donations, and other lawful resources to develop programs that strengthen the Yoruba cultural ecosystem while fostering dialogue between Yoruba communities and the wider world.

Lagos Sees Clearly

Help Us Bring Vision Within Reach

At Obakaye Yoruba Arts & Culture, we believe that community development begins with removing the barriers that keep people from living, learning, working, and thriving.

Through our next community service campaign, Lagos Sees Clearly, we aim to bring free eye examinations and prescription glasses to 500 residents of Oshodi—making essential vision care accessible to people who may otherwise be held back by the cost or distance of receiving care.

Your donation can help someone see more clearly, work more confidently, learn more effectively, and experience their community in a whole new way.

Join us in removing the barriers. Donate today and help Lagos see clearly.
